Southend High School for Girls has a sixth form which has expanded over the
past five years from 90 to 240 pupils, including both girls and boys.
Bryant Harvey Partnership was commissioned to prepare a long term development
plan. Phase one was the design and construction of a new extension to, and remodelling
of, the existing sixth form centre. The new building is a two storey steel frame
structure with stone cladding panels matching the existing and includes a common
room, study areas, two seminar rooms, offices and a glazed link to the existing
sixth form building. Phase two was the construction of a new single storey extension
to the main school building, housing a media resources room, and two science
laboratories.
