Lea Valley JMI School is a two form entry primary school adjacent to the Tottenham
Hotspur Football Club in North London. The Local Authority agreed to build a
new nursery school for children under five years of age, as a feeder to the
existing Primary School. The new building was designed in the shape of a square
‘doughnut’, with a top glazed play area in the centre and the ancillary teaching
rooms around the perimeter.
The central play area opens onto the elevation facing the existing primary school
where their activities can be seen by the children in the nursery and vice versa.
The single storey building has an exposed red stained timber frame, both internally
and externally, fairface blockwork and a slate roof.
